Operations

The company believes in empowering the nation by giving back, and sharing its resources with others. Education has been identified as one of the most important pillars in building a successful country, and Sumo has taken a strong stance in participating in the drive towards education. In South Africa, Blacks, Indian and Coloureds were disadvantaged during the apartheid era, but with the new dispensation post 1994 the Government has introduced new legisation to address some of those imbalances. In line with this change, Sumo made a significant contribution towards educational development. The company has contributed towards building eight classrooms and sanitation facilities at Horizon International High School based in Turfontein, Johannesburg.

In addition, Sumo is building another school in Willow Glen, Tshwane (Pretoria),covering a sizeable area of about 1, 100 hectares. The school will accommodate 400 pupils for both pre and primary education. The South African National Curriculum will be implemented at the school and the focus will be on Mathematics, Science and Computer Studies. Sumo is planning to contribute to boosting the education focus especially in the mentioned learning areas. Sumo is constantly striving to play a part in the development and social upliftment of the people, especially in areas that were previously disadvantaged.
